The Jehu family of companies is set for expansion following a strategic review of its operations.
Jehu has a tradition of quality in construction and engineering that spans over 70 years. Operating under four divisions - Jehu Project Services, Waterstone Homes, Waterstone Estates and newly established Jehu West, the group employs 80 staff with a head office in Bridgend and an office in Haverfordwest.
Under the restructure, Marc Jehu has been promoted to Managing Director of Jehu Project Services with a remit to consolidate the existing core business of construction and construction services. Marc is also Managing Director of Jehu West, a new operating company dedicated to serving Haverfordwest and the wider region.
Meanwhile Simon Jehu is now Managing Director of both Waterstone Homes and Waterstone Estates to drive forward the group’s ambitious growth plans for commercial development and quality residential homes.
The decision has come about as Jehu experiences a buoyant period with a projected turnover of over £40 million for 2008/09. The company has embarked on an ambitious recruitment drive investing £300,000 in senior management positions for Jehu Project Services and Jehu West.
Marc Jehu said, “This is a very exciting time for us. Under my previous role as joint Managing Director of the Jehu family of companies, I am very familiar with every aspect of the business. Now as Managing Director of Jehu Project Services as well as Jehu West, I am delighted to have this opportunity to concentrate on what is our core business and to grow the West Wales division. I’d like Jehu Project Services to become the largest and most successful privately owned construction company in Wales and I’m confident that we can go on to achieve that.”
Simon Jehu added, “The success of Waterstone Estates’ flagship Waterton Park scheme in Bridgend coupled with the achievements of Waterstone Homes as a residential developer has convinced us that there are significant opportunities in the marketplace that we can capitalise on.”
Jehu Project Services is currently constructing a Travel Lodge in Merthyr Tydfil on behalf of Atlantic Property Developments, a veterinary hospital in Bridgend on behalf of Shepherds The Vets and a health centre in Clydach, Swansea for Apollo Capital Projects.
Waterstone Estates is an established commercial property developer. It has recently signed up Tesco on a mixed-use development in Waunceirch, Neath and is actively involved with more than £10m of other mixed-use schemes.
Waterstone Homes is widely regarded as Wales’ number one luxury house builder. In 2007 they won a Gold Medal at the Express Newspapers House Builder of the Year Awards and also picked up a coveted NHBC Seal of Excellence Award for quality. It is currently building homes across Wales with price ranging from £170,000 through to £1.2m.
Jehu West has experience in all construction sectors and has already secured an £11m order book. Major projects include a £3.8m 24-bed care unit in Pembroke Dock for Shaw Health Care and Surehaven, and a £7.5m extra care facility at Milford Haven for Pembroke Housing Association.
The Jehu group is seeking to fill the following positions - projects managers based in both Bridgend and Haverfordwest, and a construction manager, purchasing manager, business development executive and group finance officer, all based in Bridgend.
