CONTRUCTION COMPANY IS EMPLOYER OF CHOICE

Leading South Wales construction company Jehu Project Services is preparing to win the award for the ‘Best Place to Work in Construction’. The Bridgend-based company has been short listed for the award in 2007 and 2008, and this year they are hungry to win the title.

The £40million turnover company prides itself on having one of the lowest staff turnover rates in the construction industry, and is therefore in a perfect position to beat off stiff opposition for this prestigious award. The Jehu name has been recognised in construction in South Wales for more than 70 years and many staff join as youngsters and spend their whole career at Jehu.

John Elliott was appointed as purchasing manager at Jehu more than 20 years ago and through his time with them he has helped to establish Jehu’s reputation today, before retiring at the end of last year. Speaking on his career at Jehu the 62 year old said: “I have really enjoyed my time at Jehu, and could not have imagined working for any other company. They have a great working environment and it is the people who are at the heart of the business and its success. The Jehu family still own and run the business and are very much part of its day to day operation.”

More than 80 people are employed by Jehu and over 20% of these have been with the company for more than 10 years. Claire Thomas, human resources manager at Jehu said: “The “Best place to work” award is sponsored by Contract Journal and involves our employees each submitting a confidential questionnaire about the company. This is scored and there is no doubt that the fact that our employees have been with us for such long periods of time proves that we are an Employer of choice.”

Marc Jehu, Managing Director and cofounder of Jehu Project Services, said: “Despite the difficult market conditions, it has been an excellent year for Jehu Project Services. I believe this is down to the team we have working here all of whom pull together and work hard to help win new contracts. John has been a major contributor in the team & we wish him well in his retirement.”
