Marc Jehu was unveiled as the ‘Building Contractor of the Year’ 2008 after being judged by a panel including Stewart Greenberg, chair of the Variety Club South Wales, David Harris, divisional managing director of Cowlin Construction, Pierre Wassenaar, vice president of the Roayl Society of Architects in Wales and Sioned Evans, director of estates and projects for the Welsh Assembly Government.
Judges commended Marc Jehu for the variety of projects he has worked on over the last year and the strength of his firm’s order book in difficult market conditions.
Marc Jehu, the co-founder of the Jehu family of companies, took up the position of managing director of the Jehu Project Services division in May 2008, with a remit to consolidate the existing core business of construction and construction services and further drive revenue growth.
Marc Jehu said, “It is a real privilege to have been recognised through this award. 2008 has been a tough year for the construction industry, however, this award truly represents the hard work the whole Jehu team has put in, and the consequent successes we have achieved.”
Jehu Project Services currently has a £40m order book. Current projects include a 62 bedroom Travelodge in Newport, a new Dojo Arena and offices at the Welsh Institute of Sport, Cardiff and a Health Care Centre in Clydach, Swansea.
In addition, Jehu Project Services has been appointed as contractor for a £9.2m mixed-use commercial development at Swansea’s SA1 waterfront regeneration scheme that will create 120 jobs.
During 2008 Marc also helped established Jehu West, a new operating company dedicated to serving the Pembrokeshire region. Based in Haverfordwest, Jehu West has been established to service growing business activity in West Wales having already secured a £17m order book.
